Fox Creek Chardonnay 2013

Wine Lady Fox Creek Chardonnay

Looking for a fresh white with a good structure and rich palate? Try this Chardonnay from McLaren Vale, very refreshing wine with complex bouquet and full bodied fruity palate.

The Chardonnay vineyard was harvested in mid February after a warm post veraison ripening period. A portion of the juice (approximately 30%) was fermented in new and one year old French oak barrels. Approximately 30% of this blend was fermented in old oak as a wild yeast fermentation that also went through partial MLF to achieve greater complexity. The barrel fermented portion was matured in oak on yeast lees for 10 months to create a rich creamy palate. The remainder of the blend was fermented in stainless steel tanks at moderate temperatures to retain maximum fruit character. “ (www.foxcreekwines.com)

Fox Creek Chardonnay 2013 is a deep gold, vivid wine with yellow hues. The aroma is fresh and full of ripe fruits – intense aromas of lychee, passion fruit, mango and sweet Clementine, followed by honeysuckle and orange flower with a hint of white pepper mixed with lemon peel notes.

On the palate Fox Creek Chardonnay 2013 is rich and creamy. Well-balanced and complex with pineapple acidity and full body, this wine tastes best when slightly chilled. In the mouth it tastes of fruits – melon, quince, pineapple and lemon peel with some spices on the long and creamy finish. Although it has almost 14% vol of alcohol, the wine isn’t too powerful and still presents a lot of freshness.

I prefer full and rich whites; therefore I found this complex, intense and concentrated Chardonnay a perfect choice!
